PERFORMING NEPANTLA - Between Two Worlds

Mexican? American? Chicana? Latina??

Performing personal story Olga Loya explores that place when she is trying to figure out who and where she is in this world. It is a story about searching for a cultural home and along the way struggling with racism, bad cultural esteem, drugs, gangs, and defeatist advice. Also, all along this same path there are positive influences that help Olga Loya find her way to her culture and herself. In this theater piece, Olga uses humor, dancing and music, wit and a fierce honesty to find a way to bridge the way between her worlds.
